Broughton Barbecue Sauce Recipes

Born in the Classroom, Built for the Pit
a chef talking to students around tables in a classroom

We had a blast partnering with the students of Broughton High School's Entrepreneurship 1 and Foods 1 classes to create a one-of-a-kind sauce for The Pit!

The project kicked off with our team visiting Broughton and bringing along The Pit's signature Eastern and Western barbecue sauces for students to taste and learn about. We talked through flavor profiles, ingredients, and what makes a great barbecue sauce before helping students develop their own concepts.

The Foods 1 students created the recipes and crafted the sauces, while the Academy Entrepreneurship 1 students developed the branding, marketing, and storytelling behind each idea. Together, they built some truly impressive sauce concepts from start to finish.

Our chefs loved working with the students, and we wrapped things up with a friendly sauce competition where students got to taste and vote for their favorites. See their recipes below to make it on your own at home, and stay tuned for when we'll feature the winning sauce for a limited time at The Pit!
